It was indeed a double celebration for the Oyo State Tennis Association led by Dr. Mogaji Akin Fagbemi as the female team followed the good example laid by the boys to qualify for the next round of the ongoing VEMP Senior National Tennis Championship in Abuja.
According to the Head of Media and Publicity of the Association, Mr. Olusola Alabi, the game that was decided in the female category yesterday Kaosarat Adegboyega defeated Uyeme Chinoso from Rivers State with 6-1 6-1, Fatimah Ganiyu lost her match to Ọjo Bunmi from Kwara State 6-3 5-7 10-6, Deborah Abiodun defeated Akata Princess from Abuja 6-0 6-2, while Afolabi Imoleayo beat Mary Azi 6-2 6-3.
Alabi said, there were 3 losses in the male category as Emeka Ogumjiofor lost to Azi David with 4-6 6-7, Michael Akinmusire was defeated by Egnal Paul from Anambra 6-0 6-4 and Abiodun Adekunle was humbled by Olowogbile Elisha from Lagos with 6-2 6-2, Mubarak Ganiyu hiwever secured win over John Oche from Lagos State 3-6 6-3 10-4 and also Isiaka Toriola caged his opponent Aondon Terf from Benue State with (6-0 3-0).
Speaking with newsmen after the game, Head Tennis Coach, Ganiyu Tirimisiyu charged the players not to relent despite some poor performance that was recorded yesterday and urged them to do better in the coming games.

Meanwhile, actions continue today in the third round preliminary stage for Men’s singles & second round Women’s singles.
In Men’s singles, Isiaka Toriola will face Ibrahim Amin, while Mubarak Ganiyu will tackle Olowogbile Elisha.
Also in Women’s second round fixtures, Kaosarat Adegboyega will face Mary Udofa while Deborah Abiodun face Salam Marva, Afolabi Imoleayo will be slugging it out wuth Jatt Omotayo.
