Heat Wave Sweeps Across Many Parts Of China

A searing heatwave have scorched many parts of China, with the temperatures in east China’s Shandong Province soaring above 37 degrees Celsius on Monday with the meteorological observatory of Shandong issuing a yellow alert for high temperature.

China has a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue.

In Zibo City of Shandong, the temperature exceeded 37 degrees Celsius and local government authorities dispatched sprinklers to spray water on the roads to increase air humidity.

In Wucheng, Laixi, and other places in Shandong, authorities adjusted working hours to cater to the health and wellbeing of outdoor workers.

Meanwhile, the highest temperature in Beijing exceeded 34 degrees Celsius on Monday. Local meteorological authorities issued the first blue alert for high temperature on Sunday since the beginning of the summer, with the highest temperature in Beijing expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

In north China’s Hebei Province, the highest temperature is reported in Jingxing County, which is 38.3 degrees Celsius.
