Sports development at the grassroots level has been reported to be in good shape in the ancient city of Oyo town in Oyo state as the yearly sports event tagged “Oyo Sports Festival” created a good atmosphere for sports lovers.
The yearly event kicked off in year 2022 with 3-IN-1 programme, Football Competition among football fans, Sports Quiz Competition among private & public schools across the 4 Local Governments in oyo town.
The competition has been noted to always come along with an award ceremony to honour sports stakeholders in the ancient city and its environment that has played a huge role in sports development.
Findings revealed that in the football competition last year, Manchester United Fans defeated Barcelona Fans with a lone goal in the final and they were crowned as the champion.

Meanwhile, in sports quiz competition among the schools across the four Local Governments in Oyo, Olivet Baptist High School came first while Liberty College was the runner while Isale Oyo Community Grammar School grabbed third position as the competition took place among over 50 schools.
According to the brain behind the event, a the young and vibrant Sports Journalist Rahmon Aderibigbe Popularly known as “King Raymond” , this year’s edition will be in 3-IN-1 format like the maiden edition.
He revealed that this edition will contain Relay race among the secondary school students in Oyo town, Table Tennis Competition, Novelty Football Tournament among the Fans and recognition of eminent personalities.
According to him, the Screening exercise for all players that will participate in this year’s football tournament will come up on Friday, May 26, at Durbar Stadium, Oyo by 3pm.

Meanwhile, sports lovers across Oyo State and beyond are expected to assemble in the ancient city of Oyo to witness the yearly sports event packaged by Raymond Sports Entertainment.
