Stakeholders Moves To Reduce GHG Emissions In Nigeria

The Energy Transition Plan has provide a roadmap for the country’s transition to cleaner energy sources while the Revised Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) sets out Nigeria’s commitment to reducing its Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and adapting to the impacts of climate change.

This was the position of the Director General, National Council on Climate Change, Dr Salisu Dahiru, during a stakeholders’ forum organized on Wednesday in the federal capital territory, Abuja.

Dahiru appreciated NDC partnership for the huge support and the Federal Ministry of Environment Climate Change Nigeria team for the successful development of the Report which will assist in effective delivering of the NDC commitment.

Dahiru said the government is determined to achieve a cleaner environment and the plan in place if properly applied, it will be easy task to achieve.

The event which was organized by the Department of Climate Change took place today in Abuja with several stakeholders in attendance to chart the way forward on climate issues in Nigeria.

Several agencies both foreign and local are part of the session including the United Kingdom Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (UKNIAF), European Union Climate Action, the united nation Global Climate Award among others.
