The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced the redeployment of the Manager of Apapa Port, Olufunmilayo Olotu, to the Marina Headquarters, Lagos, to serve as the Assistant General Manager on Tariff and Billing.
Olotu will leverage her exceptional skills and expertise in revenue generation and collection for the authority in his new role. She assumed the position of Port Manager of the Lagos Port Complex (LPC), Apapa, in 2019, succeeding Aisha Ali-Ibrahim.
Throughout her tenure, she consistently displayed an unwavering commitment to organisational goals and standards, as well as national interests, particularly in revenue generation and collection.
Olotu’s time at the Lagos Port Complex was also marked by remarkable accomplishments, including effective revenue plugging on tanker vessels, the introduction of a manual call-up system in LPC, enforcement of the Minimum Safety Standards (MSS) on trucks calling at Apapa, unprecedented debt recovery, and the implementation of the electronic call-up system among others.

In recognition of her outstanding performance, Olotu was honoured by the NPA as the best-performing Port Manager in Nigeria in 2021. With her extensive knowledge and experience, she has proven herself to be a rare breed of “billing expert” in port operations.
Speaking at a stakeholder engagement to introduce the new Apapa Port Manager, Olotu said her transfer to the Marina Headquarters highlights the NPA’s recognition of her exceptional capabilities and the trust placed in her ability to contribute further to the organisation’s success.
She said her deep understanding of tariff and billing operations, coupled with her strong work ethic and results-oriented approach, will undoubtedly enhance revenue collection and drive continued growth in her new role.
To ensure a smooth transition, Olotu met with various stakeholders in the industry and discussed pertinent issues to ensure the new Port Manager is fully aware of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
