The Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) has implored all major stakeholders in the health sector to put all hands on deck by organizing a theoretical framework on the causes and preventive measures for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection and cervical cancer in Nigeria.
NIMR made the call during the just concluded “4 Girls and Women Innovation Boot Camp 2023” organized in Lagos.
The programme which aimed at addressing issues of health challenges and targeted audiences from our locality to curtail the unprecedented menace in our society discovered intellectual and vibrant researchers across the South-West and South-South region.

In attendance are the principal investigators, Prof. Oliver Ezechi, Dr. Juliet, Prof. Joseph Tucker, Dr. Allhassan Adamu, President of Nigeria Cancer Society and other top management of the institute who presided over the performance of each representative.
Reacting to the innovation boot camp final ceremony, Dr. Alhassan Adamu implored the health sector at all levels of government to imbibe a framework that could address the rate of death caused by cervical cancer usually occurs daily in Nigeria.
Above all, “Team Heroes for Her” from cross-river State came first among the contestant after several assessments.
According to statistics, HPV infection and cervical cancer has been killing at least 22 women daily in Nigeria.
