Benjamin Best, the Nigerian gambler better known as Killaboi, has confessed to the murder of Augusta Osedion, his 21-year-old lover.

In a series of Instagram posts on Monday, Killaboi said he and his girlfriend had an argument after which he “mistakenly” stabbed her to death.

He said he did not intend to kill Osedion while praying for eternal peace.

Osedion had been reported missing for several days, prompting Onwabhagbe Cordelia, her mother, to visit Killaboi’s residence in Oral Estate, Ikota, Lagos State.

In a chat with journalists, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Spokesperson, confirmed that the force is currently investigating Osedion’s death.

He added that the Lagos police received a report from Cordelia who said her daughter informed her about an argument she has with her boyfriend on June 11.

Cordelia said she attempted to reconcile the couple but was unable to reach them.

She said she then contacted Osedion’s roommate who led the police to Killaboi’s residence where she saw her daughter’s lifeless body.

Hundeyin said there were signs of violence and a struggle on the victim’s body.

The police said they have taken Osedion’s remains to the general hospital mortuary in Yaba for autopsy and preservation.

He added that they also recovered a note left by Benjamin at the scene, which is being treated as evidence.

“The police have cordoned off the scene as preliminary investigations are underway so that we can transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti for a confidential investigation,” Hundeyin said.
