The National President of the Council of Maritime Truck Unions and Associations, COMTUA, Mr. Adeyinka Aroyewun has advised the Nigerian Ports Authority to immediately bring an end to the call up era so as to address traffic gridlock inward Apapa Port in Lagos.
Aroyewun made this demand in his statement issued to the press on Saturday, December 30, 2023.
In the statement titled “RE: TTP Advocates e-Tag to Address Apapa Gridlock”, the COMTUA National President said: “Our attention has been drawn to a publication on Punch Newspaper of 30th December, 2023 on the above subject matter, credited to one Jama Onwubuariri (MD and co- founder of TTP).
We see it as one of the several jokes of the same Jama to cover for the failure of eto and we wish to state that the TTP/ETO call up regime have failed in its entirety to address the problems for which it was set for.
“This is one of the several failed initiatives like Tafiyah and the queuing system itself. Rather it has only defrauded truckers to the tune of over #200Billion within three years, using NPA and LASG as its shields.
“The collection of money for container matching yields no fruit as trucks and containers are rejected by terminal operators after TTP has collected money for same.
“The company rely of propaganda and an organised pseudo stakeholders headed by one Chief Remi Ogungbemi to force the failed call up on Truckers.
“The current initiative of this individual is intended at an additional fees and burden to truckers.
“The conspiracy against truckers by NPA, LASG and TTP has led to the continuous traffic gridlock on the port access road and this may lead to crisis if not addressed immediately” the statement concluded.
