The Oyo State Football Association, also known as OYSFA, has laid out its strategic roadmap for the highly anticipated 2024 Oyo State Federation Cup.
The announcement came following the inaugural meeting of the executive members in 2024 at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan.

Mr. Kehinde Adebayo Ojelowo, the Association’s Secretary, shared the comprehensive action plan in a communique released after the meeting. The association expressed gratitude to the State Government, particularly His Excellency, Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, for the timely release of funds to state-owned clubs (ShootingStars [3SC], Ibadan, and Crown Football Club, Ogbomoso). They also acknowledged the increased subvention to 3SC since November 2023, contributing to the club’s commendable performance in the league.
Furthermore, the executive board conveyed appreciation to Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, acknowledging her significant contributions to sports development in the state.
The communique outlined key decisions, including the decision to host 2024 Oyo State Federation Cup matches on neutral grounds, with Semi-Finals and the Final set to take place at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
In an effort to bolster grassroots football and foster the growth of the sport in the state, the executive board resolved to establish a database for the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (Oyo State Chapter) and Oyo State Football Referees’ Council.
Building on resolutions from the 2023 elective congress at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, the association committed to forming a robust team representing the state in underage competitions. This initiative includes organizing the Oyo State U-17 League, spanning various regions.
Breaking new ground in Oyo state, the Inter Local Football Council Under-15 Football Competitions have been scheduled to take place. Each Local Football Council is expected to register one team, with Ibadan Football Council enjoying the privilege of entering two teams.
Additionally, the communique disclosed plans for registered teams to converge at Olubadan Stadium during the second term holiday, while the Under-13 football competition is slated for the long vacation.
The executive members concluded by reaffirming their unwavering support for the Oyo State Football Association led by HRH. Oba James Oluyemi Odeniran. They pledged to continue contributing to the development of football in the state and urged the management of the two state-owned clubs (3SC and Crown FC) to elevate their standards in steering the clubs to greater heights.
