The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has directed coaches on protocols for engaging with the media after matches, emphasizing adherence to existing guidelines and decorum.
In a memo titled “Participation of Coaches at Post-Match Conferences,” NPFL’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, underscored the importance of following these protocols to develop the league in line with international standards.
The memo highlighted Rule B6.26, which mandates coaches’ participation in post-match media conferences, while allowing for occasional nomination of representatives.
Emphasizing decorum in interactions, the memo stressed the responsibility of clubs’ media officers to organize and moderate post-match interactions, preventing provocative questions.
Clubs were urged to provide professional guidance to their coaches to prevent conflicts with the media, with warnings of sanctions for misconduct as per NPFL’s rules.
