The Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association (NMNOWTSSA) has pledged to support the newly appointed Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dayo Mobereola in his quest to developing the nation’s maritime industry.
The seafarer’s group which is an affiliate of Trade Union Congress (TUC) in a congratulatory message expressed satisfaction over the appointment of the new DG of NIMASA by President Bola Tinubu.
National President of the Seafarers’ Union , Chief Engr. Bob Joseph Yousuo who also doubles as the Chairman, Seafarers section, International Transport Workers Federation (ITF ) on behalf of the union in a statement over the weekend welcomed the new DG, NIMASA on board.
The seafarers Union boss stated that the DG’s pedigree and his antecedents without any doubt makes him stand fit in the new roles but challenging position.
While admitting that the “Cap fits “, Dr Bayo, the number 1 African Seafarer & Vice Chairman, NCC Nigeria Chapter of ITF pledged the maximum cooperation of NMNOWTSSA to foster growth in the maritime sector.
Also, the season Seafarer advised the new DG to run inclusive government and to consult and carry along all maritime stakeholders and to be mindful of sycophants and praise singers.
He encouraged Dr. Bayo to work mostly with technocrats whose experiences in the marine profession will be of immense benefits to him and the generality of the industry.
“On behalf of NMNOWTSSA I once again welcome Dr and wish him a flourishing and remarkable tenure.We stand with him as we are stronger together he concludes,” Yousou added .
Meanwhile, the newly appointed Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA says the Agency’s Management under his leadership will build a purpose driven organisation, while also prioritising effective communication at all levels to enhance innovation, collaboration and synergy.
In his maiden address on his assumption of duty , the DG noted that the Agency under his leadership would prioritize safety, security, efficiency, environmental sustainability amongst others.
