The entire South-West Nigeria is set to witness the first-of-its-kind academic game named “Swing Academic Game” (SWAG) from June 3rd to July 20th.
The academic game competition will last for two months among pupils of primary and junior secondary across South-West Nigeria.
A statement signed by the project’s team indicates that the competition among students across South-West Nigeria aims to create a solid familiarity with the game, and there are prizes to be won.
Speaking about the initiative, Ekiti-based educationist Dr. Adesola Oniyide commended those behind the project and emphasized its significance.
He said, “As an educationist, I’m excited about this project. It’s unique and will be a strong pillar to boost a child’s education, enhancing their learning speed. As it launches across the South-West in Nigeria, I’m very interested because it’s another plus for us in the education sector.”
Dr. Oniyide called on governments at all levels, stakeholders in the Ministry of Education, teachers, and parents to support this project and spread the word nationwide and beyond.
According to the statement, the SWAG competition that will be held in each state across the South-West will kick-off in Ekiti State from June 3rd to June 8th, while Kwara State will follow from June 11th to June 15th.
SWAG Competition will take place in Ondo State between June 17th and June 22nd, it will be the turn of Ogun State from June 19th to June 26th, Lagos State is from July 1st to July 6th, while in Oyo State the event will be from July 9th to July 13th. Lastly, the competition will move to Osun State from July 16th to July 20th, 2024.
The first-place winner will receive Three hundred thousand naira (#300,000), the second-place winner Two hundred thousand naira (#200,000), and the third-place winner One hundred thousand naira (#100,000).
Additionally, there are consolation prizes to be won, such as bicycles, tablets, customized T-shirts, school bags, lunch boxes and more.
