Dr. Akin Fagbemi, Chairman, Oyo State Hospital Management Board, has lauded the recent improvements at the State Hospital Ring Road, Ibadan.
Dr. Fagbemi gave this commendation during a recent working visit to the facility.

He praised the ongoing improvements in the hospital’s facilities and services under the current administration where he highlighted opportunities for further digitization and collaboration to enhance healthcare in the state..
In his words: “I am pleased with the improvements I have seen. I commend our able Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for the massive advancements in the health sector in Oyo State. Health facilities are something we cannot take lightly, and we can all see that Mr. Governor is providing us with the best. He will not relent in providing adequate equipment for the health sector,” he stated.
Leveraging his experience, Dr. Fagbemi recognized the need for digitization and automation of medical records to improve and upgrade clinical and inter-departmental communication.
He explained that, under the leadership of the state’s governor, significant investments have been made in improving the facilities and services at Ring Road Hospital and other hospitals across the state, resulting in a marked transformation.
The chairman also praised the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, for her significant efforts in championing healthcare reform and facilitating these improvements.
Additionally, Dr. Fagbemi acknowledged the ongoing free eye treatments and surgeries provided by Al Bassor Eye Foundation, which will benefit thousands of patients.
The visit revealed several notable improvements made by the current administration in the state, including comprehensive diagnostic facilities, a modern Diabetes and Dialysis center, and well-paved roads within the hospital.
A pilot project for the digitization of medical records is also ongoing, which the Chairman viewed as a significant opportunity for improved communication among departments.
Dr. Fagbemi noted areas where government intervention is necessary, such as improving laboratory services and addressing the mortuary situation.
Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary and other top management members, the Chairman thoroughly evaluated the hospital’s infrastructure and operations, identifying areas for quick fixes.
