The Lagos State Governor,Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday stated that the State Government aligns with the urgency for conduct in mollifying the goods of climate change and championing adaption enterprise at the original and transnational situations
Sanwo- Olu, who spoke at the opening of the three- Day 10th Lagos International Climate Change Summit held at Continental Victoria Island, said that government understands that the issue of climate change isn’t a distant trouble but a present reality that requires immediate results.

also launched the Lagos Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan( LCARP) and the Lagos Climate Change mainstreaming Strategy as corridor of strategies to reduce emigrations and alleviate climate change challenges.

He said that Lagos moment stands on the threshold of history as a state driven not by what some people see as challenges but by what it considers its topmost prospects and attributes.
According to him, as a megacity of submarine splendor, Lagos is vulnerable to climate vagrancies and stands altitudinous among the commission of nations defying the odds to make perceptible earnings.
He recalled that several times agone
, the atmospheric rudiments hovered to take over the Victoria Island part of the state, adding that the State regulated the raging ocean by constructing the great Walls of Lagos out of which came the Lagos Atlantic City.
He said that the intervention of the state government led to the restoration and the reviving of girding businesses.

The governor said with the unearthing of the first Nigerian electric Auto in Lagos in November 2020, the state intends to replace 50 per cent of public transportation line with electric Vehicles by 2030.

He emphasized that the state has successfully inked cooperation deals with a private waste institute to make a waste- to- energy factory that will give electricity for about 40,000 homes and convert 2,250 tonnes of waste daily.
before in his welcome address, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water coffers,Mr. Tokunbo Wahab noted that the result to climate change lies in climate flexible development which involves integrating adaptative measures with conduct to reduce or avoid hothouse gas emigrations in ways that give lesser benefits to all.
Wahab stressed that the peak theme” Accelerating Climate Finance and Championing Local Adaptation enterprise” aims to explore ways of attracting climate finance into the adaption space as well as to produce inhabitable and flexible structure.
He said from the initial peak to the 10th edition, the state had witnessed a transformative shift in global knowledge towards climate action, adding that each peak had been a stepping gravestone, erecting upon the achievements of the last, propelled forward by the inexhaustible sweats of innumerous climate icons .
He stated that over the once decade, the Lagos International Climate Change Summit has served as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and invention in addressing climate affiliated issues in the State.
” From promoting renewable energy to enforcing sustainable waste operation practices, we’ve made significant strides in integrating Climate conduct in Lagos State Development Investment openings and erecting adaptability in the face of climate variability” he added
He said amidst the festivity of once achievements, the state is also brazened with the stark realities of the present situation saying the global 6th Assessment Report( AR6) of the IPCC serves as a sobering memorial of the urgency of the situation and the need for immediate action.
He emphasized that this time’s peak is thus not just a forum for discussion, but a clarion call for action saying that everyone must accelerate the sweats to rally climate finance and channel it towards systems that prioritize original adaption enterprise.
Wahab reiterated that the forenamed means investing in structure that can repel the impacts of climate change, empowering communities to develop climate- flexible livelihoods, and enhancing our capacity to respond to climate- related disasters.
In a special session named” Climate change enterprise; the trip so far” the former Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola( SAN) said Climate Change is touched off majorly by mortal conduct and occasionally natural causes.
He said the International Climate Change Summit supported in 2009 has proved its effectiveness, adding that the convocation of the 10th edition of the Summit is a reassertion of the leadership part Lagos State plays in Climate Change enterprise.
He maintained that Lagos is a place of invention and not a place of trial, adding that utmost enterprise in state’s environmental sector over the times were targeted at reducing carbon emigration and ways to combat climate change.
