Comptroller Olusola Bisi Alade, Customs Area Controller, Ogun ll Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service has announced the sum of Twelve Billion, Eight Hundred and Thirty Million, Four Hundred and Ninety-Three Thousand, Six Hundred and Thirty Naira, Six Kobo (N12,830,493,630.06) being the total revenue generated between January and June, 2024.
Comptroller Alade made this known in his press briefing aiming at acquainting the public with achievements of the Command in Abeokuta, on Friday, July 5, 2024.
The CAC who noted that the core mandate of the command remains generation of revenue for the Federal Government, facilitation of legitimate trade and to protect national economy security further disclosed that there is an improvement in the revenue generated for the period under review.

He said: “This can be Compared to Eight Billion, Five Hundred and Five Million, Thirty-Eight Thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighteen Naira, Thirty Kobo (N8,505,038,818.30) generated in the corresponding period of year, 2023. There is therefore a differential of (N4,326,454,811.76) which is a significant improved by 51%.
“This attainment is evidence of the diligence, professionalism and commitment of our officers and men who worked tirelessly to ensure that we met and exceeded the revenue targets given to our command. It is also indicative of our steadfast commitment to the growth of our National economy.
“In addition, our activities in the free trade zones have improved and these brought greater success which is evident in our monthly revenue collections from April to June. In April we raked in three billion, four hundred and eighty-six million, nine hundred and sixty-one thousand, one hundred eighty-six-naira, seventy-one kobo (N 3,486,961,186.71) in May we made two billion, eight hundred and one million, eight hundred and thirty-three thousand, seven hundred and forty kobo. (N2,801,833,739.40) while in June our revenue collection leaped to three billion, six hundred and sixty-four million, seven hundred and seventy-six thousand, four hundred and ninety-nine-naira, seven kobo (N3,664,776,499.07).
“The Command will continue to put in place necessary measures to improve on the collections with adequate support from other units of the service. We shall maintain success through synergy and continued dialogue, by engaging and sensitizing the local and trader communities while discharging our statutory responsibilities of enforcing compliance with government fiscal policies” he assured.
Comptroller Alade also stressed that “the success recorded in the Command’s revenue drive in the last three (3) months can be attributed to good motivation from the Management of the Service which has boosted the morale of officers and kept them in high spirits at all times. Continuous deployment of intelligence and reconnaissance by our monitoring unit which led to the discovery of some factories which we have now put under excise control. All the eleven factories and one bonded terminal, were discovered by the Command under the months of my assumption of office, as Customs Area Controller, Ogun ll Command.
“I must commend the dedication of my officers and men, and the cooperation of other units especially Customs Intelligence Unit and Customs Police Unit in their prompt actions. It has really contributed to the success of the command.
“Our achievement is in line with the policy drive of the Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi who is operating under the principle of consolidation, collaboration and innovation. His visionary leadership and enabling support have been crucial in heightening our potentialities and has driven these spectacular results.
“I hereby solicit for the cooperation of various factories on timely payment of appropriate Excise Duty and other charges payable. We appreciate the traders that are doing well and urge them to do more and also we encourage the newly discovered factories to be rest assured that the Command remains faithful in its commitment to fulfilling our mandate under the Nigerian Customs Service Act (NCS, Act 2023)” the CAC pleaded.
