Zonal Coordinator, Zone B, of the Nigeria Customs Service, (NCS) ACG SK Dangalidima has admonished men and officers of the Service to always conform with the fight against corruption and unethical behaviors.
Dangaladima gave the charge at the Zone B Headquarters of NCS in Kaduna while participating in a joint walk exercise alongside officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Command in Kaduna on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
The Zonal Coordinator, represented by Assistant Comptroller SU Faruk, (Acting DC Enforcement of Federal Operations Unit) who noted that the essence of the walk is to sensitise the people against corruption also emphasize the importance of inter-agency collaboration in the fight against corruption.
He stressed that the security agencies and all Nigerians must collectively fight the monster (corruption) for economic development to be achieved in Nigeria.
In his submission, the Zonal Director, Dr. Benedict Ubi, emphasized the significance of whistle blowing saying: “We cannot win the war against corruption through lip service, emotional outburst or mere mob campaigns.
“There is a need for commitment, passion, consistency and credibility of intelligence. Every whistle blown must point towards truth and evidential proofs. There is punishment for false claims and misleading intelligence” he noted.
The walk which was in commemoration of the African Anti Corruption Day included Officers and Men from the Zonal Headquarters Zone “B”, Kaduna Area Command, the Federal Operations Unit Zone B and officials of the Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission in Kaduna.
Other participants included representatives from the State Government, Ministries/Departments from the State, Military, Police & Para-Military Agencies among which are the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency among others.
The event themed “Effective Whistleblowing for a Corruption-Free Nigeria,” witnessed participants coverimg a distance of about 7km around Kaduna town.
