In a bold move to address the pressing issues of malnutrition and food instability, the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has mustered state lawmakers to take action.
Speaking as the co-chairman at the induction of the National Legislative Network on Nutrition & Food Security (NLNNFS) and workshop for Chairmen of recently created State Houses of Assembly Committee on Nutrition & Food Security, Ogundoyin emphasized the need for collaborative action to address these challenges.
Ogundoyin, who is also the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, praised the efforts of the Committee on Nutrition and Food Security and applauded the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas for creating the Committee.
“As we inaugurate the NLNNFS, we reaffirm our commitment to working inclusively towards a common goal which is the eradication of malnutrition and the creation of food security across our great nation.
“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Chairman of the Committee on Nutrition and Food Security for his inexhaustible and visionary efforts in driving the Committee in the right direction. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the Committee’s vision and goals, and I commend him for his commitment to this important cause
“I also extend my gratefulness to the Speaker of the House of Representatives for creating the Committee on Nutrition and Food Security and appointing a visionary leader as its Chairman. This demonstrates the Speaker’s commitment to addressing the critical issues of malnutrition and food instability in our nation.”
He pledged the support of state lawmakers to the NLNNFS, committing to coordinate his colleagues to remove legislative obstacles that contributed to malnutrition and food instability.
The Conference Chairman called on all members of the Network to make use of their collective exoertise, resources, and influence to drive positive change, unite with stakeholders, engage with experts, and champion substantiation- grounded results.
“As Chairman of the Conference of Speakers, I pledge my unvarying support to this Network and its Work Plan. I’m completely committed to charging my recognized associates across the country to join hands in removing legislative obstacles that immortalize malnutrition and food instability. I’m proud to see the collaboration between the National Assembly and the 36 State Houses of Assembly. This network will grease a unified approach to monitoring and enforcing systems in nutrition and food security, icing that we meet our set objects.
“We realize that legislative action is pivotal in driving the necessary reforms and programs to address these pressing issues. By working together, we can legislate laws and apply measures that empower our people, cover vulnerable populations, and insure access to nutritional food for all.”
According to him, with this united trouble, state lawmakers aim to make a significant impact in the fight against malnutrition and food instability, securing a healthier and further prosperous Nigeria for generations to come.
Highlight of the event was the installment of the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas, as the Patron of the National Legislative Network on Nutrition and Food Security.
The Conference of Speakers Chairman, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin presented the plaque to the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Kalu who represented Rt.Hon. Tajudeen Abass at the evenr.
The event, held at the National Assembly brought together leaders from various State Houses of Assembly, fostering concinnity and community in the fight against malnutrition and food instability.
