LASWA to test-run Omibus ferry by July 29

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) will be test running the Omibus ferry starting from Monday, July 29, 2024.

Mr Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, General Manager, LASWA, stated this on Friday in a statement made available to journalists in Lagos.

He said: “We’re thrilled to announce the Omibus pilot programme launching from July 29.

“This move powered by the Ministry of Transportation and LASWA aims to revolutionise water transportation in Lagos.

“Join us for a week of testing our Omibus ferries, collecting essential data, and adding public awareness about the future of waterway transportation in Lagos” he said.

Emmanuel stated the pilot programme listed as follows “For morning passages, from Ikorodu – Ebute Ero – CMS, departure from Ikorodu would be by 7.00a.m.

“Ikorodu – Victoria Island (Addax) – Falomo 7.00a.m., departure from Ikorodu.

“Badore – Victoria Island (Addax) – Falomo 7.00a.m., departure from Badore.

“For evening passages CMS – Ikorodu 4.30p.m., departure from CMS. Falomo – Ikorodu 5.30p.m, departure from Falomo; Falomo – Badore 5.30p.m., departure from Falomo” he said.

According to LASWA General Manager: “Commuters would witness the Omibus ferries first- hand during the pilot phase while adding that passengers were expected to pay with Cowry Card, prompting them to simply tap in with their Cowry card to board.

“We’re gathering feedback to upgrade our service for the full launch. The ferry is designed to transnational safety norms and offers a comfortable and secure trip.

“Our ferries are internationally recognised for safety and quality, furnishing a top- notch trip experience.

“Join us on this trip towards a better, traffic-free Lagos” he pleaded.
