Rotary Club to pay WAEC fees for 20 indigent students

The Rotary Club of Awka-Smithtown in Anambra State has concluded plans to pay the 2024/2025 WAEC fees for nothing less than 20 students in the state.

Mr Alex Arinze, the newly-elected President of the club who made this known in his chat with journalists stressed that this is part of some of the projects highlighted for the year 2024/2025.

According to him, some of the projects include paying WAEC fees for 20 scholars, donation of mosquito nets and medicines at primary healthcare centres and financing boreholes in some rural communities among others.

Speaking during his investiture event as the 9th President of the Rotary Club on Sunday, July 28, 2024, Arinze said there was the need to provide for the indigent in the communities to give them a sense of belonging.

He also prompted well-meaning Nigerians to expand their philanthropic gesture to ameliorate lives of Nigerians.

“We appeal to well-meaning Nigerians and organisations to support our philanthropic gesture for the betterment of the country, ” he said.

Meanwhile, the Outgone President, Mr Valentine Okaudo, in his valedictory speech, outlined his performance while in office and thanked members for their support during his term.
