In a bid to prevent a reoccurence of the ruinous EndSARS protests that rocked the nation in 2020 especially in Oyo State, the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has advised against any form of violence as calls for nationwide protest gather momentum.
The Speaker called on security agencies to identify implicit hotspots, and secure protesters in Oyo State ahead of the planned civil protest.

Speaking at a Youth stakeholders’ meeting held at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building Secretariat, Ibadan, Hon.Ogundoyin emphasized the need for peaceful protests and prompted security agencies to take visionary measures to help any breakdown of law and order particularly in Oyo State.
The stakeholders meeting which was put together by the Office of Chairman, Oyo State Youth Agency, Prince Falana Adebowale was attended by other stakeholders including the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, Special Adviser to President Ahmed Tinubu on Youth enterprise, Titilola Gbadamosi, Executive SA to Governor Seyi Makinde on Youth and Sports among others
“It’s no longer news that our country is facing multitudinous challenges, and the citizens have the right to express their grievances through peaceful demurrers.
“We must learn from the history and take visionary measures to help violence and insure the safety of our citizens.
“As we face the prospect of another another protest, we must ask ourselves What did we learn from the history? How can we insure that our conduct lead to positive change without causing farther detriment? It’s our responsibility to approach this situation with wisdom and foresight.
“Today, I call upon all stakeholders, government officers, community leaders, activists, and citizens to engage in dialogue and seek peaceful and formative results to our grievances. Let us harness the power of 3Cs-Consultation, Collaboration, and concession. We must have an understanding and work together to address the issues that concern us all.
“There is no mistrustfulness that protests have their place in a democratic society, but they must be conducted in a manner that respects the rule of law and the rights of others. Violent protests will only lead to destruction, chaos and farther mournings.”
The Speaker specifically asked security agencies to identify implicit hotspots and secure protesters, saying “we cannot afford to lose any life or property during this protest”.
He also appealed to protesters to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid any conduct that could lead to violence.
“We understand the situation in the country at the moment, yet we must protest in a peaceful and legal manner. We must not allow our feelings to get the better of us, and we must not allow culprits to hijack the protest.”
The Speaker assured that Oyo State Government would continue to do its best to make life easy for residers of the State.
“In Oyo State, we’re committed to creating platforms for dialogue and ensuring that every voice is heard. We’ll work effortlessly to address issues concerning our citizens and to implement policies that promote fairness and equity. But we can not do it alone. We need your support, your ideas, and your fidelity to the common good.
“Together, let us forge a path forward that’s guided by wisdom, compassion, and a participated vision for a brighter future” Hon. Ogundoyin said.
