The leadership the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has confirmed that it’s President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Confirming this to journalist on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 was Mrs Funmi Sessi, the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Lagos State Chapter said Ajaero was left off the hook late last night before he boarded his flight to attend a scheduled conference in the United Kingdom.
According to her, even before his release we were making necessary arrangements in ensuring that he gets out of detention.

Speaking about the ongoing investigation into an alleged effort to topple the administration of the federal government level against the NLC President alongside one Andrew Wynne (also known as Andrew Povich), a British national, Sessi said “Joe Ajaero is just a child of circumstance and he’s a soft target by the Federal Government because he is leading the largest group of organized labour that are still a voice for the voiceless and is still the pressure group checkmating the government ensuring that any anti-people policy against the people we speak against it but any good of the government we applaud but we’ve not really seen any good policy of this government since last year, all we’ve been seeing are policies that are really affecting the people negatively.
“For the treason offence, we know it is a very weighty one that the government is trying to hang on the neck of an innocent man”.
Sessi who also confirmed that Andrew Wynne truly has an office (a bookshop) within the NLC Headquarters in Abuja, opined that, “it is not an offence for anyone to rent a space in a facility that is not being managed by the NLC, there is a facility manager in charge of the building. Ajaero even emerged NLC President recently and this British man has been occupying that space before his emergence. So nobody should link the guy with Ajaero.
“If Ajaero had committed that weighty offence he would have run for cover since, he is an innocent man, that is why he’s walking freely” she maintained.
Joe Ajaero, NLC President was released few minutes before the 12midnight ultimatum issued by the organised labour.
