These were contained in messages delivered during 11th Annual Men’s Movement Convention at the Area, starting with a Pre Convention Revival for three days and the main Convention, also for three days.
After strategic meetings by Leaders (Area Executive members) consisting of District Leaders with Area Men Leaders in months of July, August into September, Area Combined Choir practices in August, September and the final rehearsal in September, Pre Convention Revival holds from Monday 9 till Wednesday 11, September, 2024 at Ikotun, Area Headquarters.
On Wednesday, October 11, 2024, being last of Pre Convention Revival, Area Evangelist, Pastor Daniel Akintola in teaching had identified different types of fathers who were also called to rise from slumbering and arose to their fatherhood responsibilities, both at homes and at the Church.
According to Pastor Akintola, “different types of fathers are one, Spiritual fathers; two, Biological fathers; three, Step fathers; four, Adopted fathers”; and five, motivational or god – father like figures.
The proper Convention opening, Welcome service of the 2024 Annual Men’s Convention held by 4.00 pm on Friday, September 13, 2024 on the Area Convention Ground, Arida – Ikotun and Area Men Leader/Egbe District Apostle, Pastor S.S. Ankewo who doubled also as the Area Council Secretary was the Speaker.
In course of his homilies tagged ‘Division One’ content among of listed sermons, teachings during the Convention, Pastor Ankewo stated:
“The Book of Ephesians is a book that was written by Apostle Paul to the early Christian believers to wake up from their slumbering”.
Further in the opening, the Area Men Leader averred: “Is a phrase the Bible uses to speak of our Spiritual conditions, not a physical sleep”.
Pastor Ankewo concluded his opening words thus: “To slumber Spiritually means we are inattentive to our walks with GOD, lazy about our Spiritual development, slacking in our disciplines of Prayer and Bible reading” and round off with this point that –
“The Apostle Is Telling Us That Now, Is Not The Time To Go Sleep Nor Slumber” in our Christian race and Christian duties as Men to GOD Almighty and, to our Families (the wife, children, house hold/family) and to Church of GOD in service, fellowship, others.
For ‘Definition of Terms’ the District Apostle disclosed: “Arise – This is an exclamation and cautious call or an alertness to come up from a lower to a higher position” and added, “To ascend to a higher level of Spiritual Awareness” – Isaiah 52: 1; 60: 1; 51: 9.
“Slumbering is a lighter state of sleep. Figuratively, it is a state of ignorance or inaction” and further hints, “It serves as call to awake from this state and rise to a now level of Spiritual Awareness, growth and re – connection back to GOD” and concluded with “Is also disconnection from GOD’s presence and guidance” – Romans 8: 14.
He also listed six kind of people that are to rise from ‘Spiritual Sleep’ as those who are disconnect from GOD; those who are still (sinning) indulging in sins; and, those that have lost their salvation: They are neither cold nor hot.
Others are: Those who have lost passion for things of GOD – eg Prayer, reading words of GOD, fasting etc. Those who compromise their faith because of worldly gains and pleasure; entire Men’s Movement members in Ikotun Area who had put their faith and trust in God.
