The Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a total revenue of Two hundred and thirty nine billion, two hundred and thirty three million, five hundred and thirty thousand, two hundred and sixty five naira, forty-eighty kobo (N239,233,530,265.48) only as revenue generated by the Command within the first nine months of the year 2024.
Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan, Customs Area Controller PTML Command, made this known on Thursday, October 16, 2024 during the. third quarter press briefing of the Command.
While giving the breakdown, CAC Daniyan noted that, “within the same period of last year, the Command collected One hundred and eighty five billion, seven hundred and eighty five million, thirty thousand, twenty five naira and forty seven kobo (N185,785,030,025.47) only. This shows an increase of Fifty three billion, four hundred and forty eight million, five hundred thousand and two hundred and forty naira, (N53,448,500,240) only. This represents an increase of Twenty nine percent (29%).
“Let me restate that we started the third quarter on a very impressive footing with the collection of N33b in the month of July 2024. That record is the highest monthly collection by the command this year thus far and we are optimistic about surpassing it before end of the year, because there are positive signs that indicates this, as a result of the constant review and evaluation of our revenue collection mechanism.
The CAC who acknowledged the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for his leadership style and the adoption of his three point mandate of collaboration, consolidation, and innovation that has brought about modernization in NCS resulting in compliance with international best practices in processes and procedures while leveraging ICT to facilitate convenient, effective and efficient trade.
Speaking further, the CAC disclosed that “Within the period under review, Our trade facilitation and ease of doing business strategies have been sustained with our record breaking two hours clearance time for compliant RoRo cargoes. An efficient and accessible dispute resolution committee has been strengthened and working harmoniously to regularly brief the Customs Area Controller with a view to quickly resolving all trade disputes.
“This committee contributed immensely to the success recorded during the period of nine months.I want to use this opportunity to appeal to our compliant traders to always make sincere declarations, avoid smuggling and take advantage of the various products put in place by the CGC like Time Release Study (TRS), Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) programme and Advance Ruling (AR) to help facilitate trade” he stressed.
