CHSR commends Lagos Assembly, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA for approving Orilowo Market Operation

Centre for Human and Socio-economic Rights (CHSR) has appreciated the efforts of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Osinowo in approving the operation of A.I.A Orilowo Perishable Foods Market located at Plot 705 Adekunle Bus Stop, Owode along Ikorodu Road, Lagos State.
Comrade Alex Omotehinse, President CHSR, while delivering his speech on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 said “the promptness, swiftness and sincerity of minds of Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly in reviving the hope of the hopeless market men and women of A.I.A Orilowo Perishable Foods Market, whose source of livelihood is seen to be threatened. The state assembly have always through its standing committees interfaced and resolved various issues that are affecting residents of the state which make people referred to them as PEOPLES ASSEMBLY and cynosure of parliamentary dictum in the country.
In the same vein, on behalf of Orilowo marketers, CHSR congratulates and appreciate the versatile and doggedness of the executive chairman of Agboyi-ketu LCDA Mayor Dele Oshinowo for the approval of A.I.A ORILOWO PERISHABLE FOODS MARKET operation against all odd and despite what happens in the course of our advocacy and agitations during the struggle. Without his administrative acumen the market registration approval would not have come to past but today we all gathered here to celebrate the market opening which is the joy of the traders who have been home for over one year.”
Comrade Omotehinse however appealed to traders and the executives of Orilowo Perishable Foods Market that they should abide to the principle of Lagos market Law at all time, be of good behavior and obey sanitation law of the state to avoid market closure.
In his submission, Alhaji Isiaka Abdullahi, the Babalola of the market commended CHSR for standing with them in the struggle towards actualizing the dreams.
He stated that the market which will be run on discount and liberal in nature will always observe the weekly environmental sanitation in ensuring that the market is neat at times.
The event was graced by many dignitaries including various market men and women including those in the Hausa communities.
