As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark this year’s International Women’s Day, Princess Adebowale Olabisi Teniola Anike, Chairman, Lagos State Chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has come out to celebrate the incredible contributions of Nigeria women towards national development.
In a statement signed by Ruth Sunday, Publicity Secretary, Lagos State Chapter of NNPP, Princess Anike said “On this International Women’s Day, I stand proud to honor the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere”.

According to her “Women like Late Dora Akunyili of blessed memory who made remarkable and incredible mark in the fight against importation and sale of fake/ contraband drugs, cocaine, marijuana etc. thereby saving many Nigerians from untimely death.
Women like Okojo-Iweala, who have continued to excel in her field nationally and internationally. Her outstanding performance and personality has earned a place in the World Bank, where she has proved her mettle. So also is Oby Ezekwesili, Late Margret Ekpo of blessed memories who made a mark in the field of politics. She was a Nigerian women’s rights activist and social mobilizer who was a pioneering female politician in the country’s first republic and a leading member of a class of traditional Nigerian women activists, many of whom rallied women beyond notions of ethnic solidarity. She played major roles as a grassroots and nationalist politician in the Eastern Nigerian city of Aba, in the era of a hierarchical and male-dominated movement towards independence and others.
