Hoodlums believed to be under the payroll of some politicians on Friday, March 14, 2025 descended on journalists covering the press conference organized by Egbe Omo Ilaje Worldwide aftermath the demolition of over 5000 houses in Ilaje Otumara Community at Mainland Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The face-off which left several journalists with various degree of injuries was however condemned by Prince Iwamitigha Raphael Irowainu, President, Egbe Omo Ilaje Worldwide.

The journalists attacked include Oluwatosin Sanni of the News Busta, Gbenga Adewale of Seefame News, Seyi Fadoro of Distinct Media, Oluwaseun Adeola Oluwole of Integrity News and Wasiu Ayinde of LTV8.
Others are Segun Adeboboye of Control TV, Aigboje Ikhuoria of ITV, Kanu Daniel Sun Newspapers and Dikpo New Telegraph, Stevens of Kaftan TV amongst others.
The injured journalist have since gone to the clinic to get first aid treatments.
The demotion of the Otumara Community which began last Friday, March 7, 2025 has rendered many residents homeless with many of them taking refuge in the premises of the nearby Banjo Primary School in the area.

This is so shameful. How can journalists be attacked simply for covering a community demolition? Is this democracy?? Acts like this is bringing shame to the Government of the day as it seems we don’t really know who is in control. Government should do better to ensure justice is done. Some are hiding under govt agencies to conduct unlawful demolition without discussion on reimbursement or compensation, thereby putting thousands of people into homelessness and distress, Justice MUST be done.
