The Islamic Movement under the leadership of His Eminence Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky have in strong terms condemned the disruption of some of its programmes by the security agents and the persecution of some members of the group especially protesters in the recent International Quds Day in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Speaking on behalf of the Group during the World Press Conference in Lagos, Miftau Zakariyah, South-West Coordinator of the Movement noted that some of the  programmes disrupted by the security agents includes Annual Conference on 2015 Zaria Massacre Commemoration, Nisfu Sha’aban Programme for the celebration of Maulud of Imam Mahdi and the recent 2025 Abuja International Quds Day which was held at the Usman Bin Affan Mosque along Aminu Kano Crescent in Abuja.
According to Zakariyah, “the recent event which took place on March 28, 2025 being the last Friday of this year’s Ramadan was going on smoothly until the security agents particularly the Guard Brigade unprovokedly attacked adherents of the movement. During the attack, the Army killed 26 protesters and arrested 274 including 60 minors while 11 others are still being detained despite their critical health conditions.
“And up till this moment, the Police refused both the detained protesters and the corpses of those killed by the Army” stresses the Coordinator.
“Media reports have confirmed how how Free Palestine protesters that have been detained by the FCT Police Command since March 28, 2025 are dying in police custody. The names of those that recently passed away include Shaheed Huzaifa Muhammed from Tudun Iya, Katsina State who attained martyrdom on Monday, April 7, 2025 around 6pm in SARS Abbatoir, Guzape Abuja” he maintained.
Speaking further, the South-West Coordinator of the Movement need that “International Quds Day as initiated by Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979 is a Global Day of Solidarity with Palestinians, it is a day observed peacefully in over 80 countries and the Islamic Movement under the leadership of His Eminence Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky has been observing Quds Day for more than four decades. This year alone, Quds Day was observed in more than 17 states in Nigeria including Lagos, Kano and Sokoto without any report of provocation. So, why all these atrocities and persecutions meted against Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky and his followers? He queried.
“We are demanding the end of the disruption of activities being organized by the Islamic Movement under the leadership of Sheikh Zakzaky and the unconditional release of all the Free Palestine protesters arrested on Friday, 28 March, 2025 during the 2025 Abuja International Quds Day” stresses the Coordinator.
