The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Lagos State Branch, says 500 young members will be empowered in its 60th annual youth and leadership training programme.
Lagos Branch Chairman, Nigerian Red Cross, Mrs Adebola Kolawole, said this at an event to mark its youth and leadership camp on Tuesday in Lagos.
Kolawole said the humanitarian organisation was celebrating 60 years annual youth and leadership camp in Lagos State branch.

She said the organisation was happy training, empowering and teaching the youth values they had lost due to moral decadence.
She said the one-week long training would focus on making the youth more useful to the nation.
“We train them on various areas, if you know what we mean by camp, it’s not only training, it entails a lot of activities including games and sports.
“We invite people that are specialists and experts in various fields to come and empower the campers, mentor them on areas that bring interesting topics that will benefit them not only now, even in future.
“The major criteria for selection is that you must be a member of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, whether you are old or young, even the young campers are junior Red Crossers,” she said.
Kolawole, however, commended the Lagos State Government for its supportive roles across various ministries in the state.
Also speaking, the Branch Secretary, Mr Olakunle Lasisi, said the Nigerian Red Cross had built a lot of volunteers and members in the country.
Lasisi said the humanitarian organisation has different sections that engage youths in different aspects of life to distract them from drugs and crimes.
He said the young Red Crossers would be mentored to make them more useful to the society.
Lasisi disclosed that there were 500 campers and 45 camp officials in the camp presently from different parts of the country.
Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), said the Red cross had done so well in Lagos State over the years.
Oke-Osanyintolu said the decorations of LASEMA officials marked another new dawn in honour of what the governor had done in the emergency circle.
He said the governor had improved capacities and facilities in emergency management in the state.
