Ikorodu North LCDA Engages Stakeholders, Tackles Community Challenges Head-On

By Ajibola Adedoye

In a day marked by civic engagement, infrastructure response, and political consultations, Hon. Ameen Apanisile, Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), demonstrated hands-on leadership through a series of high-impact activities on Tuesday.

Partnership for Progress: Optimal Greening NGO Visits Chairman

The day began with a courtesy visit from Optimal Greening, a non-governmental organization committed to improving access to potable water in underserved communities. Led by CEO and Founder, Mr. Osen Iyahen, the delegation included Princewill Dagwa (Programs Manager), Rasaq Sanni (Finance & Admin Manager), and Temilade Talabi (Marketing & Communications Manager).

The NGO presented updates on ongoing water projects in Egirin Ekun and Isiu communities and sought strategic collaboration with the local government. Chairman Apanisile commended the team for their contributions to sustainable development, assuring them of his administration’s support in scaling their efforts across more communities.

“Access to clean water is not a privilege but a right,” the Chairman stated, “and we are committed to ensuring no community is left behind.”

Swift On-the-Spot Interventions: Traffic and Flood Response in Odogunyan

Earlier in the day, Hon. Apanisile personally supervised two critical interventions in the Odogunyan area.

At Odogunyan Bus Stop, a trailer breakdown had caused a major traffic gridlock. The Chairman led the rapid evacuation of the vehicle, restoring normal traffic flow and commending local security operatives and traffic officers for their prompt response.

He later proceeded to the Oju Emuren axis, where heavy flooding from an early morning downpour disrupted movement and affected local residents. Accompanied by council engineers, the Chairman inspected blocked canals and drainages—trekking through the affected areas and interacting with displaced residents.

He ordered immediate clearance of the canals and drainage systems and issued a stern warning against illegal structures obstructing natural water channels.

“We must learn to respect environmental laws. Development must not come at the cost of safety and common good,” he declared.

Political Solidarity: APC Mandate Integrity Group Pledges Support

In a significant political engagement, the Chairman hosted the Mandate Integrity Group, a faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Hon. Adedoyin Adeyeri, former APC Chairman of Ikorodu North LGA.

The delegation, made up of seasoned political actors and party stalwarts, congratulated Hon. Apanisile on his electoral victory and assured him of their unwavering support for his administration’s agenda.

Notable members of the delegation included:

  • Hon. Alade Olukoga – Former Councillor, Erikorodo Ward
  • Hon. Adewunmi Amose – Former Councillor, Agbala Ward (Old Ikorodu LGA)
  • Hon. Bose Gbadegeshin – Former Supervisor for Agriculture
  • Hon. Adamolekun Murphy – Former Councillor, Agbala Ward
  • Alhaji Ganiu Mojeed – Former Party Vice Chairman, Ikorodu North
  • Hon. Wale Asaolu – Former Councillor, Erikorodo Ward (Old Ikorodu LGA)

The Chairman thanked the group for their visit, noting that they were the first political association to officially reach out post-election. He reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, emphasizing collaboration across all party structures and community stakeholders.

A Day of Leadership in Action

From addressing environmental challenges to strengthening political alliances and advancing social development, Chairman Apanisile’s engagements on September 16 reflect a proactive governance style rooted in accessibility, responsiveness, and collaboration.

As Ikorodu North LCDA continues to grow, the Chairman’s actions signal a government willing to be both present and accountable in tackling the pressing needs of its people.
