The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, has taken a historic step toward fairness and accountability by paying severance allowances owed to former political office holders for more than 11 years.
Presenting the cheques at the Council Secretariat, the council boss described the payment as a fulfillment of his promise to uphold justice and reward the service of past officials. He assured that outstanding entitlement would also be settled in phases until all arrears were cleared.
“This administration stands for fairness, transparency, and accountability. Those who served the council diligently deserve to be honored, and today, we have corrected an injustice that lingered for over a decade,” Hon. Ameen said.

The beneficiaries, visibly elated, expressed profound gratitude to the chairman for breaking the jinx and addressing an issue that had spanned three administrations. Many described the gesture as a mark of compassionate leadership and prayed for the success of his tenure.
On the same occasion, the chairman addressed the council workforce in what was described as a candid and motivational session.
Speaking earlier, the NULGE Chairman of Ikorodu North, Comrade Azeez Odubena, highlighted pressing staff needs and appealed for improved working conditions.
In his response, Hon. Ameen urged the Human Resources department to enforce punctuality and discipline across all cadres, stressing that a well-motivated and dedicated workforce is central to efficient service delivery.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to staff welfare, pledging to provide staff and revenue buses to ease mobility and support productivity. He also emphasized plans to enhance revenue generation and training opportunities for workers.
“Our strength lies in our people. With a disciplined, committed, and service-oriented workforce, we will build an Ikorodu North LCDA that works for everyone,” the chairman declared.
Observers say the dual gesture of clearing long-standing severance arrears while addressing workers’ welfare reflects a broader vision of inclusive governance. By prioritizing both past and present contributors to the council’s growth, Hon. Ameen is seen as setting a new leadership benchmark for transparency and human capital development within Ikorodu North LCDA.
