By Ajibola Adedoye

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building stronger partnerships with the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) to improve staff welfare and enhance service delivery in the council.

This assurance came on Tuesday when the council boss hosted the President of NULGE, Lagos State Chapter, Comrade Sewanu Sunday Ogunfowora, who was on a familiarization visit to the LCDA headquarters.

Welcoming the union leader alongside council staff, Hon. Ameen stressed that his administration values collaboration and sees the welfare of workers as central to delivering quality governance at the grassroots. He noted that ongoing efforts to repair the council’s revenue vehicles are near completion, while plans are in motion to acquire new ones to ease service delivery.

“We cannot achieve development without our staff. Their welfare, motivation, and efficiency remain top priorities for this administration. This is why we are repairing existing facilities and considering the provision of a staff bus to ease mobility. We believe in working hand-in-hand with NULGE to achieve results,” the chairman said.

Earlier, Comrade Ogunfowora had encouraged staff to maintain punctuality, dedication, and professionalism in carrying out their responsibilities. He also appealed to the chairman to provide necessary working tools that would support staff efficiency, while calling for more involvement of employees in the council’s revenue generation drive.

The meeting, described as cordial and forward-looking, also provided a platform for council officials and union representatives to exchange ideas on ways to strengthen institutional capacity.

In attendance were the Deputy Mayor, Hon. Mathew Aliu Adesanya; Council Leader, Hon. Abosede Benson; Majority Leader, Hon. Banjoko Babatunde Oluwaseun, as well as other principal officers of the LCDA.
