In a display of grassroots leadership and inclusive governance, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, on Monday, embarked on a series of impactful engagements with critical stakeholders across the local council.

The day’s activities kicked off at the Council Secretariat with the Chairman receiving the leadership of the Friends of Deaf International Foundation, led by its Founder, Mrs. Funmilola Ogunro. The Foundation, known for its advocacy and empowerment of persons with hearing impairments, was warmly welcomed by the Council Boss.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Apanisile praised the organization for its dedication to promoting the rights and welfare of the deaf community. He pledged the Council’s support for initiatives that enhance inclusivity, education, and equal opportunity for all residents, regardless of physical challenges.

“Our administration is committed to building a society where everyone is seen, heard, and supported. The Friends of Deaf International Foundation is doing commendable work, and we are open to collaborations that drive inclusiveness,” the Chairman stated.

Shortly after, the Chairman met with the leadership of the Joint Community Development Association (CDA), Agbala, in a session focused on infrastructural development and stronger council–community partnerships. The CDA representatives discussed pressing local issues and applauded the Mayor’s approach to grassroots governance.

In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, the CDA presented a framed portrait to Hon. Apanisile, acknowledging his continued contributions to community development.

Later in the day, the Chairman played host to the Agbede Youths, led by Comrade Martins, who paid him a congratulatory visit. The youth delegation briefed him on their voter registration sensitization campaign targeted at first-time voters in the area.

Hon. Apanisile lauded the initiative, describing it as an excellent example of responsible citizenship and youth engagement in democracy.

“Youths are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are active contributors to today’s progress. Our administration will always support initiatives that empower young people and promote civic responsibility,” he said.

The day wrapped up with a strategic meeting between the Chairman and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government and Ward Executives. Present at the gathering was Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani (TJ), APC Ikorodu Divisional Chairman and Ikorodu North Chapter Leader, who applauded the Chairman’s performance since assuming office.

In his address, Hon. Apanisile expressed gratitude for the support received from the party structure and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on his administration’s “New Deal Agenda,” which he described as a blueprint for inclusiveness, infrastructure renewal, youth empowerment, grassroots development, and participatory governance.

“We are delivering not just projects, but impact. With the support of the party and the people, we will continue to break new grounds and make Ikorodu North a model for progressive governance,” he added.

All four meetings concluded on a note of mutual respect, shared vision, and renewed commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, and sustainable development. Residents and stakeholders described the engagements as a sign of responsive leadership and a promising future for the LCDA under Hon. Apanisile’s stewardship.

As Ikorodu North continues to grow, the Chairman’s consistent engagement with diverse groups reinforces a people-centered governance style that places every community voice at the heart of local development.
