In line with his New Deal Agenda for inclusive governance and sustainable development, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, on Thursday embarked on a far-reaching industrial engagement and inspection tour across major companies and project sites within the LCDA.

The visit, which aimed at strengthening public-private partnerships and fostering corporate responsibility, saw the Mayor interfacing with key industrial stakeholders, environmental regulators, and development partners on strategies to enhance infrastructure, environmental health, and community welfare.

Mayor Apanisile’s first stop was Top Polymers Nigeria Limited at Odo, where he was warmly received by the company’s management team led by Mr. Hitesh (General Manager), Mrs. Ashim (Commercial Head), and Mr. Uche (Personnel Manager).

During the visit, the Mayor emphasized the role of industries in advancing community development through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly in youth empowerment, job creation, and social welfare.

Mr. Hitesh, in his remarks, lauded the Mayor’s visit and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the LCDA’s development agenda. He highlighted that the firm already employs a significant number of local residents and ensures fair remuneration, pledging continued partnership with the council.

At Pulkit Alloy and Steel Nigeria Limited, the Mayor engaged with a management team led by Mr. Bhatia (General Manager), Mrs. Adeshola (Head of Relations and Administration), Mr. Adetayo (Operations Manager), and Mr. Johnson (Personnel Manager).

Mr. Bhatia outlined the company’s CSR projects, which include donations of school materials to nearby schools and palliatives for communities along Odo Nla Road. He also appealed for the rehabilitation of the access road leading to the factory and improved electricity supply to enhance productivity.

In response, Mayor Apanisile commended Pulkit’s social interventions and assured that his administration remains steadfast in improving infrastructure and sustaining an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

“We understand that industries are key partners in progress. Our government will continue to work closely with business stakeholders to ensure that development benefits both residents and enterprises,” the Mayor stated.

The Mayor’s tour continued with a visit to the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Ikorodu Zonal Office, where he met with Engr. Olusola Amodu (Director, Zonal Office 1) and Mr. Oladele Collins (Director, Zonal Office 2).

Discussions focused on strengthening environmental compliance, promoting cleaner industrial practices, and deepening collaboration between the council and the agency to ensure a healthier, more sustainable local environment.

Mayor Apanisile also inspected the ongoing culvert construction at Apeka, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving road infrastructure and drainage systems to reduce flooding and enhance mobility.

The day’s activities concluded with an inspection of the WaterAid Nigeria project at Agodo Alara Community Primary School, a tripartite initiative between Ikorodu North LCDA, WaterAid Nigeria, and the PepsiCo Foundation. The project features a solar-powered water facility and rehabilitation of sanitation structures to provide safe water and promote hygiene among pupils and the school community.

Speaking after the tour, Mayor Ameen Apanisile reiterated his administration’s dedication to inclusive governance and partnership-driven growth.

“We are building a future where government, industries, and the people grow together. Our administration will continue to engage with private sector players and development partners to ensure that progress reaches every community” Apanisile noted.
