As part of ongoing efforts to enhance joint border security and protect lives, properties, and government assets, the Nigeria Customs Service (Kebbi Area Command) and the Nigerian Army have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties with their Beninese counterparts.
On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, a delegation from the Kebbi Area Command, led by Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, fdc, and accompanied by Major Shola Elijah Moses, Commanding Officer of the 1 Battalion, Nigerian Army, paid a working visit to the Tsamiya/Sebgana border corridor.
The Nigerian team was received by Beninese Customs officials, personnel of Kebbi Command, and other key border stakeholders.

In his address, Comptroller Ibrahim underscored the need for sustained collaboration and intelligence sharing between both nations’ security agencies to ensure effective border management and curb transnational crimes. He highlighted that border security is a shared responsibility that requires continuous dialogue and mutual understanding.
Welcoming the delegation, Comptroller Arouna Dramane of Wara Border, Benin Republic, commended the initiative, describing it as a positive step toward deepening regional security cooperation. He led the visitors on a tour of their facilities and expressed readiness for continued partnership.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of goodwill messages and a renewed pledge by both sides to work together toward maintaining peace, security, and prosperity along the Nigeria–Benin border.
