The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command averted what could have been a devastating abduction in Guto village, Bwari Area Council, following a rapid and coordinated response to a late-night attack on 20th November 2025.
At about 01:10 a.m., officers sprang into action after receiving an urgent alert that a group of armed men—estimated at around 30—had stormed the community, targeting a resident and his family.
A swift deployment by the Bwari Division’s Surveillance Team, reinforced by the IGP Special Intervention Squad (SIS), met the attackers head-on. The armed group opened fire upon sighting the police, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire. In the confrontation, two assailants were neutralized, while the rest escaped into the nearby hills and bushes.
Sadly, amidst the bravery, a police officer sustained a fatal gunshot wound. He was immediately taken to Bwari General Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead. The Command mourns his loss, honouring him for making the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the community.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye psc., has since reinforced the area with additional personnel to ensure continued safety and has ordered a thorough investigation to bring the fleeing assailants to justice. Normalcy has returned to the community.
