Ikorodu North Marks World Tourism Day 2025, Reaffirms Commitment to Cultural Heritage

Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Saturday, September 27, 2025, joined the global community in celebrating World Tourism Day, showcasing the area’s rich culture, resilience, and creativity.

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, described tourism as a powerful driver of unity and development, stressing its importance to the council’s future.

“Tourism goes beyond traveling; it is about discovering heritage, embracing traditions, connecting communities, and building a future of shared prosperity,” he said.

From historical landmarks and vibrant festivals to artistic expressions and welcoming people, Ikorodu North continues to stand out as a cultural hub within Lagos State. Mayor Apanisile reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting these values while promoting sustainable tourism that empowers youth, supports small businesses, and opens new opportunities for residents.

“Tourism tells the world who we are and showcases the greatness of our community. This is why Ikorodu North remains committed to preserving our cultural identity while promoting sustainable tourism for growth and global recognition,” he added.

The council used the occasion to encourage residents to explore their roots, protect the environment, and highlight the treasures that make Ikorodu unique.

“Tourism is our bridge to the world, our pride, and our future. Let us celebrate it not just today, but every day—because in tourism, we find unity, peace, and progress,” Mayor Apanisile said.
