The Lagos State Chief Whips Forum has commended the Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, for his proactive leadership and strides in grassroots governance since assuming office in July 2025.
The delegation, led by Hon. Gbenga Nathaniel Akinbinu, alongside the Forum’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Hon. Eric Eninla Otinwa, and Rt. Hon. Tunde James Oyeyiola, visited the Somolu LG Secretariat earlier today to celebrate Ashimi’s achievements.
During the visit, the Forum presented an Excellence Award to Chairman Ashimi in recognition of his uplifting leadership and commitment to community development. They praised his efforts in strengthening local governance and expressed confidence that he would continue to deliver quality representation to the people of Somolu.
In his response, Hon. Ashimi thanked the dignitaries and acknowledged the presence of Hon. Sinat Omolara Adelaja, the current Chief Whip of the Somolu Legislative Arm. He urged members of the Chief Whips Forum to use their collective influence to foster effective collaboration across the Conference 57 local councils in Lagos State, emphasizing that Chief Whips remain “the engine room of any legislative process.”
Ashimi further reiterated his commitment to policies and initiatives that will promote inclusive governance, infrastructure development, and citizen welfare at the grassroots.
The Lagos State Chief Whips Forum plays a critical role in legislative coordination and policy formulation across the state’s councils. With their renewed support for Somolu’s leadership, the Forum pledged continued partnership to advance the agenda of grassroots development and democratic dividends for Lagos residents.
