The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kebbi Area Command, has announced a significant 36.13% surge in revenue generation for the month of September 2025, under the newly appointed Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim.
The announcement came during Comptroller Matawalle’s maiden press briefing on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Command’s headquarters, where he revealed that the Command generated ₦25,621,609.26 in September alone — a marked increase from August’s figures. The surge is credited to enhanced enforcement, robust anti-smuggling operations, and improved compliance at border points.
Highlighting a major breakthrough, Comptroller Matawalle disclosed the seizure of 35,725 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), intercepted while being smuggled out of the country. The fuel, valued at over ₦21 million, will be auctioned to the public, with all proceeds remitted to the Federal Government.

The seizure comprises:
- 14,750 litres intercepted by Operation Whirlwind Zone B, worth ₦8.85 million
- 20,975 litres seized by Kebbi Area Command officers, valued at ₦12.58 million
“These seizures demonstrate the efficiency and commitment of our officers. The upcoming public auction will be conducted transparently, and all funds will go directly to the national treasury,” Comptroller Matawalle stated.
In addition to the PMS, the Command also recorded several high-profile seizurs with a total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦109,595,761, including:
- 444 wraps of Cannabis Sativa
- 143 sacks of illegally trafficked donkey meat
- 100 bales of second-hand clothing
- 100 bags of foreign parboiled rice
- 140 cartons of imported spaghetti
- 20 jerrycans of vegetable oil
The event was attended by key stakeholders from partner agencies. Comptroller Matawalle officially handed over the seized Cannabis Sativa to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the donkey meat to the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS).
Present at the handover were Muhammad Bashir Abdulrazaq, representing ACG NAQS Adamu Isah Gano, Mr. Rabiu Abdullahi Sokoto, Commander, NDLEA Kebbi State Command, Assistant Comptroller N.O. Edet, Commander, Operation Whirlwind Zone B among others.
Both agencies praised the Customs Command for its diligence and pledged continued collaboration.
Under Comptroller Matawalle’s leadership, the Kebbi Command has shown early signs of reform, strategic enforcement, and fiscal efficiency. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthen border security, disrupt smuggling networks, and ensure seamless revenue collection.
“We are focused on enhancing government revenue, curbing illegal trade, and building strong interagency synergies for national development,” he concluded.
