By Ajibola Adedoye President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has placed national security above international diplomacy by postponing his planned trips to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, in light of recent attacks in Kebbi and Kwara States.
The President was billed to depart Abuja today for the 20th G20 Summit of Leaders in South Africa, followed by the 7th AU-EU Summit in Angola. However, the rising security concerns — including the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi and the violent attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State — compelled him to suspend his travel.
Responding to an appeal from the Kwara State governor, President Tinubu has ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the wider Ekiti Local Government Area. He also charged the police to pursue the bandits responsible for the attack without delay.
The President is awaiting detailed briefings from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf, as well as from the police and the Department of State Services on the Kwara incident.

Reaffirming his stance, President Tinubu emphasized that securing the release of the 24 abducted schoolgirls remains an urgent national priority, directing security agencies to spare no effort in bringing the children home safely.
